FOUR INDEPENDENT REGIONS Mark up to four parts of a sound, each with its own mode, pitch, envelopes, filter and modulation. LOOP repeats a region with fades and crossfade. GRAIN scatters tiny slices into textures, pulses and harmonies. GRAINS WITH CHARACTER Set how long each grain lasts, how often grains spawn, where they come from and how far they scatter. Vary their length and level, reverse some, spread them wide and loosen their timing. Eight grain shapes, from smooth Hann to plucked Decay, each with its own attack and release. MELODIES FROM GRAINS Let every grain choose its note: random notes of a scale, a line that wanders by steps, a melody that settles on the key, or a short motif that slowly evolves. Any key, any range, at any tempo. LOCKED TO THE BEAT Type or tap a BPM. Spawn grains on the beat, set their length, the scan, the LFOs and the delay in note values, and fit any loop to one bar, two or four. Lines on the waveform show where every beat falls. A metronome keeps time in any meter from 2/4 to 12/8. In an Audio Unit host, Grainfold can follow the host tempo. MOVEMENT AND EFFECTS Scan through a sample, animate parameters with two LFOs per region, and shape notes and filters with ADSR envelopes. PITCH transposes without changing timing; SPEED changes a loop's tempo, not its pitch. Filters, harmonic LAYERS, drive, a six-voice chorus, DIFFUSE, delay and reverb. SEE THE SOUND The waveform lights up where grains are playing, the scan sweeps through the sound and each LFO draws its wave. Add a live 3D spectrogram of what you hear, full size or docked in a corner: turn it, move it and zoom it with your fingers. PLAY WITH TOUCH OR MIDI In PERFORM, each finger plays a region and controls two parameters. LATCH holds sounds; MOTION records and loops your gestures. Play chords of up to twelve notes from the on-screen keyboard or MIDI, with velocity, sustain and pitch bend. MIDI Learn connects knobs to your controller. RECORD AND EXPORT Record your performance, gestures and effects included, as a 32-bit float WAV, straight into your DAW's folder in Files or iCloud Drive. Render loops or a chosen length at 44.1 or 48 kHz.
